Foundation Seed

The MCIA Foundation Seed program increases, maintains and distributes Foundation seed of new and established publicly developed varieties. MCIA cooperates closely with the University of Minnesota plant breeders working with soybeans, wheat, barley, oats and grasses. The Foundation seed produced and distributed is further increased by MCIA members as Registered and Certified seed to provide high quality seed to Minnesota and the world.

The MCIA Foundation seed program operates under an agreement with the University of Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station. The Foundation Seed program also cooperates with similar organizations in neighboring states to supply varieties developed by other public plant breeding programs.
