MCIA is an Accredited Certifying Agent (ACA) authorized by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) to provide organic certification services. Operations certified organic by MCIA may display the NOP Certified Organic seal on qualified products.

MCIA is authorized to provide organic certification services to crop, livestock and wild crop producers as well as handlers and processors of organic products. Operations certified by MCIA include food processors, handlers, distributors, retailers, agricultural handling facilities, wild crop collectors, and field crop, vegetable and fruit producers. Many of MCIA's long-time seed producers and seed conditioning facilities have added organic production or processing to their operations.

MCIA provides its clients with a user-friendly, efficient, cost-effective certification process. MCIA's service-oriented staff is available to provide prompt, professional assistance to help organic producers and handlers understand organic program requirements and guide them through the organic certification process. MCIA staff inspectors and carefully chosen accredited independent inspectors are used to provide organic inspection services.

Certification is the process where a producer or handler is approved by an ACA as being in compliance with the NOP regulations and is then authorized to sell, label, or represent products as being "Certified Organic". All certified operations must apply and be inspected annually.
